Siri Beerends is a cultural sociologist. At SETUP Media Lab she investiges the societal impact of digital technologies together with artists. With her critical approach, she stimulates public debate on AI and increasing datafication. Her PhD research (University of Twente) deals with authenticity and the question of how AI reduces the distance between humans and machines. Not because machines are becoming more like us, but because we are becoming more machine-like.
