Following the opening keynote, the panel addresses some of the most urgent questions that will be explored throughout the PublicSpaces Conference. How do we deal with our digital dependencies, and can we transform them in ways that strengthen our autonomy? How do we break with social media platforms that undermine our democracy, and build digital public infrastructure that facilitates healthy public debate? And what role does AI play in this when we design it in such a way that the public interest comes first, rather than the power of large foreign tech companies?
The panel features, among others, Marleen Stikker and Robin Berjon. Marleen has been working on the above issues for over thirty years, including through the development of the Public Stack, which served as inspiration for the Eurostack. Robin will elaborate on some of the ideas he shares in his opening keynote.
